Tequila Mockingbird

So the Sox won the world series. Maybe it wasn't the Sox I would have preferred but I do believe destiny was again fulfilled this October. The best team won...hands down. The Astros simply did not see it coming. They were too busy whining. You didn't see the Sox complaining about the roof being open or closed, they were ready to play. They didn't complain about the rain or wind, they were ready to play. They didn't care how late it got or how many pitchers they used, they were ready to play. Freddie - god I miss that man - Garcia was a picture perfect pitcher. I used to love watching Dye with the A's (even though he was single handedly beating my Mariners). It seemed like the stars aligned for this team. And so I raise my glass to them. And to baseball. See you in April boys!

But what will I be drinking you ask? That frozen concoction that helps me hang on! It's Jimmy Buffett tonight at the Rose Garden and it is 5 o'clock somewhere. I'm heading out now for happy hour and the show! Assuming they let me in with the camera I'll post my favorite costumes tomorrow. Until then, chew a little Juicyfruit...It's good for the soul.

Fan for God?

Can someone please tell me:
A. Who decided "God Bless America" should be played at the 7th inning stretch after 9/11?
B. Why it is STILL being played at the 7th inning stretch?
D. When will they STOP playing it at the 7th inning stretch and let us sing about crackerjacks without worrying about God blessing anything?

Go Sox...

I found My Better Self

It's true. I'm a Dar-ling. I have been for many years. I was begining to question my loyalty though. While I am still on the Dar-list (since 1996 baby!) I rarely do more than skim it. I've lost touch with most of my other fan-friends who used to be a big part of my life. And, while I have faithfully bought her albums immediately upon release, I just haven't loved them. I thought maybe I was over her! But I just went to see Dar Williams in concert last night and I am happy to report the love is back! Really REALLY back!

What a great show! I know Courtney has already blogged about the new album but I had only bonded with 1.5 songs it at that point (Miss You Till I Meet You and Teen for God but I tired quickly of the later). But live and in concert I fell in love with each one she played. I usually pine for the days it was just her and the guitar recording in her bedroom...but the band rocked. Girlyman sang harmonies along with her and life was good. Two Sides of the River is now on repeat in my CD player at work.

Go listen...now...really...go!

Why are you still reading this????

GO!!!

Send good vibes please

I never had any siblings but the closest thing I've got to a brother...our parents met in lamaze class when we were in utero...is having some some childbirth troubles of his own. I just threw his wife her baby shower TODAY (she's due on my birthday November 18th) and I just got a call tonight that she is in the hospital with a section scheduled for morning if she doesn't go into labor tonight. I'll spare you the details if you can spare some healthy thoughts or prayers to be sent their way. When last they checked a few weeks ago little Lucia was only 3 lbs.

Sorry boss...

All the rage in the cube farm

Someone found this site and we're all going overboard. These little slogans are printed out and pinned up on everone's fabric walls. Some we put there. Some our co-workers placed for us.

Here are some of mine:

Only Kristy has the answer!
Make Kristy yours!
Nobody does it like Kristy! (really? *blush*)
Snap! Crackle! Kristy!

And my all time fave:

The Kristy is mightier than the sword!

C...also for Cookie

Courtney seems to be the only one to take the challenge but I have a hunch that her creative poem would have won the cookie anyway.

Greetings from Ashland, OR...6 plays down and three to go. God I love it here!

Serenity - NOW!

Maybe you know the hype. Maybe you don't. But go see Serenity...

Flora and Eric bought the DVDs and suggested I watch Firefly the series.I never really 'got' the whole Buffy and Angel thing so the fact that Joss Wheden wrote it didn't sell me. I thought the premise sounded questionable but I was still intrigued. I promised myself I'd watch one full episode even after I was take aback by some of the speech patterns (did he just say "howsabout"?). But I was hooked and watched the entire series in one weekend. And it wasn't just for the hot actor from Edmonton playing the Captain. Although that didn't hurt.

I was with the many people who attended the movie (named for the name of the ship instead of the ship's class like the tv show) Friday night and it was a most enjoyable night at the cinema. Two thumbs way up.

To get the most out of it do get a hold of the series and catch up but if you haven't the time the movie will hold its own just fine.

Oh yeah..and GO SOX!
